* In Massachusetts, there is a 48-hour waiting period before cremation. Only cemeteries can own a crematory. No cremation or funeral service provider can own a crematory. Cemeteries that have a crematory can only do the cremation portion of the overall service. The medical examiner must sign a cremation authorization and certify that a cremation may take place.

Our complete cremation service includes our professional transportation team picking up your loved one, all necessary city/state/federal paperwork, cremation transportation unit, crematory cost, delivery to and pick-up from a licensed Massachusetts crematory, cremated remains container, plus our professional services all for $1,395. *Additional transportation ferry cost for Nantucket and Martha Vineyard and the cost of mailing cremains.

Are cremations done individually?
All cremations in Massachusetts are completed individually. We use only licensed Massachusetts crematories.
Under Massachusetts law, explain a funeral home and a crematory’s role in a cremation?
Unlike other states, there is a clear firewall between the ownership and services of a funeral home (Cannot be owned by a cemetery) and those of a crematory (Cannot be owned by a funeral home.) A Massachusetts-licensed funeral home has responsibility for all cremation planning and services. We select a licensed-Massachusetts crematory to complete the actual cremation and the cremains are delivered back to the funeral home for family for pick-up or mailing.
Do you use refrigeration when sheltering our loved one?
Yes, we have state-of-the-art funeral refrigeration.
Can I pre-plan and pre-pay for a “Simplicity” cremation?
Call us at 800-314-1890. We will discuss your wishes and direct you to all the required cremation forms. Once you complete the $1,395 cremation arrangements, there are no additional costs. We place your money in a Massachusetts-regulated trust account under your name. These proceeds are used for cremation services at the time of need.
